What kind of sessions do you offer?
I specialize in a wide range of photography services, including couples, families, seniors, maternity, birthdays, military homecomings, portraits, branding, and much more! If you have a unique session in mind that isn't listed, don't hesitate to reach out—I’d love to bring your vision to life!
I don't know of any good photo locations. what do you reccomend?
Choosing the perfect location is key to capturing your vision, and we have three great options to consider: a beautiful beach, a cityscape, or a serene, woodsy outdoor setting. To make sure we find the ideal spot, feel free to share any inspiration photos you have. I’ll then provide you with a tailored list of locations that match your style and bring your vision to life!

How much do your sessions cost?
I strive to be as affordable as I can because everyone deserves quality photos that don't break the bank. My pricing ranges from $165 - $265+. Event coverage is excluded from this range. Contact me for more information regarding pricing & packages.
How long does it take to get my photos back?
You can expect your photos back anywhere from 5-10 business days. If you are under time constraints and need your editing processed expedited let me know and we may be able to work something out.

What time do you recommend my session be?
The best time for a photoshoot depends on the type of lighting you're looking for. Generally, golden hour, the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset, provides the softest, most flattering natural light. This is ideal for outdoor shoots and creates a warm, glowing effect. However, the ideal time also depends on the vibe and mood you want for your photos, as well as the location. I can help determine the best timing for your specific session!
How should I prepare for my session?
- Start by carefully planning outfits for yourself and anyone included in the session. Feeling confident and comfortable is key to creating images you'll love. I’m here to help—if you need guidance at any point, don’t hesitate to reach out! I can assist with creating a cohesive color palette, choosing appropriate footwear for your location, and more.
- It's also important to communicate your vision with me. Share inspiration photos and complete the Photography By Ella Mattes Client Questionnaire to help guide the session.
- Consider whether you'd like to include any props in your shoot. Props can add a special touch to your photos, and I have a list of available props you can use—just ask!
- Lastly, the weather. I'll monitor the forecast leading up to your session, and if there's any concern, I’ll work with you to create a rain plan.

Do you travel?
Sessions booked within a 35-mile radius are not subject to a travel fee. However, every mile outside of that radius will be charged a small fee.
How do you handle cancelations and rescheduling?
When you book your session, a 25% nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your date. If you’re unable to attend, the deposit is transferable to another session. However, if I don't hear from you and you miss your session, the deposit will be forfeited.

I need help with posing! Will you help?
I always arrive at each session prepared with poses tailored to the details you provide in your client questionnaire. There's no need for you to bring your own list of poses, unless of course you do, in which case, you might just win "Best Client of the Year!" Just kidding, but having specific poses in mind can help make your session feel more personal and unique to you!
How do you deliver my photos and where do you store them after delivery?
I’ll deliver your photos through a private online gallery, where you can easily download the high-resolution files directly to your device. You’ll have indefinite access to the gallery, so you can revisit your images anytime. Your photos will also be stored on a hard drive, both in their original format and as my edited versions. Please note that RAW, unedited files will never be shared.
